Copadichromis Azureus Cichlid Care

The Copadichromis Azureus, often called the Azureus Cichlid, is a breathtaking species native to Lake Malawi. Known for its vibrant blue coloration and graceful swimming, this peaceful yet slightly territorial cichlid is a favorite among hobbyists for adding elegance to a tank.

• Care Level: Easy – This hardy and adaptable species is suitable for aquarists with some experience in maintaining cichlid aquariums.
• Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 350 liters is recommended to provide ample swimming space. Include rocks and open areas to replicate its natural habitat, but it does not require extensive caves like mbuna species.
• Water Parameters: Maintain a temperature of 25-29°C and a pH between 7.8-8.6, mirroring the hard, alkaline waters of Lake Malawi.
• Diet: Copadichromis Azureus are omnivores and thrive on a balanced diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, and occasional plant-based items such as spirulina flakes or blanched spinach.
