Yellow Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia Herbertaxelrodi)

The Yellow Rainbow is native to the Lake Tebera basin in Papua New Guinea. Known for its vibrant appearance, mature male Yellow Rainbows are bright yellow-gold, with orange fins and a dark stripe running along their body. Females also have some yellow coloration, but it is much lighter compared to the males. Most Yellow Rainbows sold are juveniles, with young males just beginning to show signs of their adult colors. With the right care and patience, both male and female Yellow Rainbows will develop their stunning colors over time. These fish are popular in planted aquariums due to their peaceful nature, though their active behavior may intimidate slower or shyer tankmates. Yellow Rainbows thrive best in groups of 6 or more, ideally with both males and females, and they can also coexist well with other rainbowfish species. Males will display their most vivid colors when kept with both females and other males of their species. Adult Yellow Rainbows typically reach a size of about 3.5 inches.
